Getting your floors refinished is exciting—and a little preparation on the front end helps everything run smoothly, keeps your home protected, and helps us deliver the best possible finish.
Below is a simple checklist of what to expect before we arrive on day one, plus what will happen during our first 20–30 minutes on site.
1) Smart thermostat: turn off auto scheduling
If you have a smart thermostat (Nest, Ecobee, etc.), please turn off the Auto Schedule/Smart Schedule feature before we arrive.
Why this matters: during sanding and finishing, we may need to keep the home at a steady temperature and humidity range. Auto schedules can change the temperature unexpectedly, which can affect dry times and results.
2) Plan for daily access (key, lockbox, or entry plan)
Please plan on us having a way to access the property every morning for the next 3–4days (depending on the size of the project).
Options that work well: – Leave a key (in a secure agreed-upon location) – Provide alockbox code – Arrange for someone to let us in each morning
If you’ll be away or at work, no problem—we just need a reliable plan so your project stays on schedule.
3) Expect a 20–30 minute setup window when we arrive
When we arrive, it typically takes about 20–30 minutes to: – Bring in equipment – Protect key areas as needed – Connect our sanding system – Prepare and set up stain samples (if staining)
During this time, you’ll hear equipment being moved and connected. That’s normal—thank you in advance for your patience while we get everything ready.
4) Stain samples: how the first day usually starts
If your project includes staining, we’ll get stain samples ready for you early on.
A quick heads-up: – Samples can look different depending on the wood species, existing floor tone, and lighting – We’ll guide you through the options and help you choose a color that fits your home
5) Electrical access: panel box or a 240V outlet
We will need access to: – The electrical panel box, and/or – A 240V outlet (commonly thesame type of outlet your dryer uses)
This helps us safely power our professional sanding equipment.
Quick “Day 1” recap
Here’s the short version of what to expect the morning we start: – You’ll hear setup and equipment connection for ~20–30 minutes – We’ll confirm the plan for access each day – If staining, we’ll prep and review stain samples with you – We’ll confirm electrical access (panel/240V outlet)
